A car lift that won't cooperate isn't just an inconvenience - it's a safety hazard. When a lift starts acting up, most people assume it's a mechanical problem. But a lot of the time, the issue is electrical. Bad connections, wiring faults, or a subpanel that can't keep up with the demand. That's exactly the kind of work we do.

Here's what we were dealing with on this one - a hydraulic single-post lift in a personal garage setup. The lift wasn't powering up reliably. The hydraulic power unit itself was intact, but the electrical side needed attention. We traced the issue back through the wiring and into the garage subpanel to figure out what was going on.

The subpanel in this garage had the circuits labeled out - back wall, side wall, lights - which is actually a good sign that someone put thought into the original setup. But lift systems pull serious amperage, especially when that hydraulic motor kicks on. Getting the wiring connections solid and making sure everything was landed correctly at the terminals is the kind of detail that makes a lift run right long-term, not just for a day or two.

We also got into the motor wiring on the lift unit itself. Those internal connections take a beating over time - heat cycles, vibration, and general wear can loosen things up or cause a wire to fail at the terminal. Once everything was sorted out and confirmed, the lift was back to doing what it's supposed to do.

If you've got a lift in your garage that's sticking, not responding, or just acting inconsistent - don't ignore it. It usually doesn't fix itself. We handle the electrical side of lift repairs and can help diagnose whether the issue is in the unit, the wiring, or the panel feeding it.
